Remember John Bytheway?
I'm watching John Bytheway on the BYU channel. Oh my gosh. He got old. oh well. he is talking about the war chapters in the book of mormon. I have always wondered why we have to read about so many wars . . . seems so unspiritual. One of the reasons why the book of mormon talks so much about war is that we are constantly at war here on earth - and the book of mormon tells us about being a good warrior. Have you ever thought about that? that we are all warriors. he is such a good speaker. and so easy to understand. he is talking about how each chapter gives us important information to apply to our daily lives, to strengthen us and help us. each battle cited gives us something specific that we can incorporate into our lives. who remembers what chapter it talks about moroni - and says if all men could be "like unto moroni" - satan wouldn't have a chance here on earth. i have heard my sunday school teacher say that moroni is her hero. Captain Moroni is awesome - it tells how the bad guys are conquered and the stratagies used can be used by us. now i understand why we are given so many scriptures all about wars and contentions. because that's what we need help with . . . during the good times . . . we're usually good to go! have you ever thought about the "watchman on the tower" - the guy they send up to the top of the tower to watch in case of danger so he can warn the people? we have our own "watchman on the tower" - who has a much better perspective than we do - has a much larger vision - can see farther and clearer than we can. that would be our prophets. that's a good thing. just bits and pieces . . . if i can find the talk i'll send it on to you guys.
